There is other kind of mechanic related with garrison, prosperity and food income of the place, but sieges so far has nothing to do with it. If there were lack of food before you sieged the castle. If you conquer a territory without the banner, you only end up as an independent clan which, from what I hear, does not have access to the kingdoms tab nor can they recruit other clans.
